For his new exhibition, Gary Schlingheider has developed a site-specific concept in which he explores the boundaries and transgressions of painting and sculpture. Based on his characteristic language of bright colors, reduced forms and clean lines, he creates an expansive composition that moves between surface and body. Pastel-colored aluminum sculptures open up a stretched perspective and mirror the wall installation‘s vibrance. The artist works with the language of minimalism, but his vocabulary is permeable: while his canvases represent a gestural and impulsive work process, his powder-coated aluminum elements are defined by a more industrial appeal.
