Tabata von der Locht’s practice begins in urban space. Through walking and close observation, she collects traces, marks, and fragments that often go unnoticed. From paint residues and graffiti to weathered surfaces and everyday imprints. Using a self-developed pigment transfer technique, she physically removes and preserves these marks before reworking them into textile collages, sculptures, and paintings. Her works shift urban traces into new contexts, exploring questions of memory, authorship, and the relationship between public space and painting.
