bram braam
modern mutants
6.2.–12.3. 2016

opening: 6.2. 2016   7 – 9 pm
introduction: Nadim Samman, curator and artistic director Import Projects

modern mutants is the first extensive solo exhibition of Dutch artist Bram Braam (*1980) in Berlin with galerie burster.

Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Den Bosch, Netherlands, influenced and inspired by the architecture of the 20th century, the Dutch ‘De Stijl’ movement, the approaches of New Objectivity, Functionalism and Constructivism, Braam’s new body of work addresses Berlin – his hometown – as a mutable cityscape visually shifting between the remaining forms and structures of an exceptional past, of future development, and those niches of undefined character.

Braam reflects the traces of our time, the architectural transformation, transition and decay; he documents failed utopias and creates with his sculptures and site – specific installations pieces of modern architectural history hovering between past, present and future.
