Christian Bär understands painting as a network of relationships in which objects never appear in isolation but exist within shifting digital, emotional, and medial fields. Drawing on plein air traditions, he transfers working in the moment into the digital realm, sourcing motifs from social media, internet culture, and personal image archives.

These elements are fragmented, scaled, and reassembled on canvas, where meaning emerges through their relationships rather than as singular motifs. Scribbly, early-digital brushstrokes recall the aesthetics of early graphic programs and are translated into dense, material painterly forms. Bär’s works reflect a present in which digital and analog processes are inseparably intertwined.
