Fabian Lutz’s paintings configure surface and body towards an inner relation. He sets real existing places in a surreal tone, plays with light and dark, muted colours, changes contrasts, subtracts. His land- and city-scapes express a subliminally and personal reason. Through reflecting on his surroundings and individual reality, historic and societal presets he creates settings often void or with almost no population. Superficially unliving figures such as buildings and objects become protagonists, achieve a personality and almost sentience. Lutz’s inspiration mostly stem from intuitive and coincidental finds, he is fascinated by the unknown, the unclear, the mystery of existence and the human condition. He asks the question; what is the meaning of the world we created?
